September Morn

New beginings

Photographed by Kate Eller

Singular moments illuminate

The years lift

Drum beat of beginnings

A new feeling awash

Swoon with incipient desires

Deeper connections

Connecting comes easy

Immerse, enthrall

A mist of bliss hovers

Serene, creative,  inspired

A figure of urgency

Vibrating with significance

Dignified

Photographed by the Associated Press

The events that unfold yesterday in The United Kingdom can not escape my blog posts and have left an indelible print as the word dignity is etched in my mind. I am still taken aback about the dignified manner in which Gordon Brown the former British Prime Minister left number 10 Downing Street yesterday.  These days we are bombarded by Leaders refusing to step down or refusing to accept the fact that they have lost in the polls or it is time to retire. Yes the constitution in Westminster may have dictated his actions or his impudent bid for power may have failed, nonetheless he faced his challenges and he conceded. The people have spoken, he listened and he did not stand on his dignity, he left. If someone says that you are a person of dignity it speaks volumes to your character. I hope we all can learn from his example no matter our situation. I wish him well!

Completely restored

Composition reflects

Translated through fields

Of passionate beliefs

Collecting on creating

Prodding to emerge

Empowered, motivated

New connections and insights

Pavilion with honor

A First time Mother’s touch

Photographed taken from Getty Images

Mothers are considered nurturers, teachers, protectors and cultivators. New research shows that a simple close attachment with your child can contribute to a child growing healthy and strong trumping all other measures mothers take to prevent diseases. Dr Chopra claims that hugs and kisses are a force of nature more powerful than ever thought of before. According to pediatrician William sears “bonding is not instant glue – it develops over time and every family is different.

Mother-child bonding is dependent on every part of the body. The more time a mother takes to  cuddle her children allows them to be less stressed and more adventurous in temperament. A mother who gazes into their child’s eyes while bottle or breast feeding, snuggling or massaging unleashes the feeling of good hormones in both mother and child.  A mother’s scent motivates her child to stay close to them and motivates the mother to care for the child. A child need to be held soothed in order to regulate all the new sensations.

For new moms it is important to note the quality of time spent with your child is more important than the quantity.  Dr Chopra suggest let bonding with your baby become a priority. Simply things as lying around  with your child doing nothing, cuddling, playing with, holding your child, massaging her, singing to her, using soothing scents , showing her colorful interesting shapes and objects ‘nourishes all of your baby senses.

To paraphrase  Patty Onderko as your child grows older and a parent kisses a child boo boo to make them feel better that child will no doubt think as she ought to her mom is the best.

Before a nary witness

Hundreds of questions

Sparse experience throbs

Motherhood fall like the break of a new day

-

Her soul connects

She catches the fever of motherhood

Drenched with emotions

Someone else’s needs to  the forefront

With intuition she ticks

Sips each moments meaning

-

Grounded – she digs for life

Sponge and sop it up

Unfolding – treasures each day

Motherhood a taste, a smell, a sight

Drenched into her fabric

Proud to be called mother

Chosing Thoughts

Have you looked forward to the prospect of something and it did not materialize?   Well, my Lily did not produce a flower this Easter. In the midst of my disappointment there are recurring thoughts of the many beautiful strings of lilies that are strung in my associations.

I pray that you are not daunted by your unfulfilled expectations but your passion will inspire you to produce no matter your displeasure.
