Winter's Solace

Photograhed by Momiji

Sunlight streams

Leaf peeping

Orange tints

Bare boughs, bald moments

The sap of life

Remembered beginnings

Opened secrets

A mystery wrapped in an enigma

Winter’s solace

Kind peace in solstice’s afterglow

Liberty in eternal beauty

Queen of The Night

Inspirational

Photographed by Helen Sweeting

Every week for an hour I sit in an area of where a thin, almost like a dead stick looking tree grows. Occasionally I take a glance at a tall woody tree in the same area. I am told that there is a beautiful flower that only blooms at night on the tree. The name is night-blooming cereus, Queen of the night or Reina de la noche. They bloom just one or two nights a year. The photo provides such beautiful view of this flower that seeing it is a literal high that delights.

The flower can be comparable to the monotony of working hard or possibly the pursuit of academia there is so much going on before the final bloom of a job well done or a graduation day. When we see the results of a long process it gives such a high and provides sustenance. The bloom of our lives may perhaps be a relationship with our family and friends especially when they are no longer with us – we realize the beauty that they created.

High Bloom

On single stem

Such tricky balance

An opening point

The pulse of the night

Blend of the shift

Bursting onto the world

Reserved like Jane Austen’s Bright Star

The bloom mutes

Graced by the truer romantic

Clandestine Escapes

Untamed emotions

Weave into

Tantalizing anticipation

The lost of self

Beguiling between thoughts

Achingly perfect

Unfathomable beauty

Pink smiles of bougainvillea

Lofty clandestine escapes

Burst of brilliance

Heart soar embracing knotted secrets

Melting with inspiring pleasure

Under inky skies on shady terrace

Overlooking aquamarine seas

Full Lives

The fullness of a fruitsPhotographed by Susan Koster

The passion of your influence

The  feel of beauty

The synthesis of your anonymity

Such a frightening intimacy

Your pink like flesh

Conjures images

From the markets of Europe

To the shores of the Caribbean Sea

Your sweet ripeness

Captures, electrify thee.

Northern Rocks

Photographed by Susan Koster

I’ve been to a few places that seem no different than places that I have been to before. On the other hand some places give me a feeling that causes me to instantly  fall in love with that particular  location. Some places make me wish that I  could purchase it right away because it resembles  ‘a piece of heaven on earth’.  There is nothing more peaceful to me as hearing the waves beat against the rocks. The rough ocean, for me, allows me to meditate on beauty, humanity and the enduring power nature.

Recently I flew over an island, the waters were tranquil and the turquoise waters seemed to whisper to me.   The entire northern part of the island has a very rugged coastline which the locals refer to as “da nort side.”  It took Columbus three days to coast this 60 mile shore. I am surprised that he did not just anchor his boat and build a home there.

He could have raised a few sheep and could have been the first to taste another mouth watering delight that I experienced on this island – “ Long Island mutton.

Turquoise water

Hear its burst of energy nearby

The rich coral rock glistens

as I sit and hunt the ocean

my thoughts where beauty lies

suspended, mellow
