How much I miss town --- The Evergreen Tree, the ice cream shop next to it and up the street was the bread shop.; I used to go get my hot bread (cheese and sausage) sandwich!!! Visiting town was surely a highlight. Thank you God for these days ..... how humble we were!
Good morning, my friend.
You have been very busy with Acacia and McCartney House on facebook, and now, with the log-in information here. I hope that this will allow you to track the readers of your beautiful thoughts and poems.
I read these little books to the children at Glinton's primary School, and they LOVE them. "I love you with all my heat" is another good one.
Enjoy this lovely spring day!
Susan
Back to nature .... coming from the U.S. where water comes from the tap in unlimited supply to Long Island where water from the sky is caught on the roof and goes into a rain water tank, one becomes very water conservative. So should it be...nature gives us enough if we are careful....
...and how rich our lives become as we learn. each day, from our assumptions, lack of knowledge, oversights, and even mistakes !
Yesterday I planed five, yellow elder ... the national flower of this beautiful nation in which I reside! ... dancing around coincidences ...
Hey this is a great story. I'm going to email this to my buddies. I stumbled on this while googling for some free stuff, I'll be sure to visit regularly. thanks for sharing.

I thought about my Grandmother. She passed several years ago. I do not remember her as being a certain age. My memories are about how she was able to bring the family together. Maybe that was the wisdom of her "Old Age."
Coretta Johnson
I thought about my grandma and even though she passed on very young I do have fond memories....Being the first grandchild I was cherished...I remember feeling very safe with her and loved...may her soul rest in peace.
I am so sorry for your loss. I never thought of the death of a young person as a "Life so Green". Such a reminder that we all are creatures on the planet.
That Photo brings back so many memories. I was an Air Traffic Controller at Bramble. I remember after hurricane Hugo we were using umbrellas while we controlled air traffic to protect ourselves and the instruments from the rain. Great memories, great co-workers.
Re: Montserrat WI
She's got rainbow hair and milk white skin, webbed toes and fingers and non-human prints in dark wet sand. Olden eyes, knowledge-filled eyes, lime green starry eyes and a song and whisper that can soothe and electrify your soul. Chances shadowing Brodericks and an echo far, far away from home. You see what you're gifted to see and get what you're given. No human has ever "taken" that comb. - JM
...in many ways, so akin to the plait in the Bahamas, especially Long Island. Our tourists just think the straw fish mats are cute, never understanding just how much work goes into them, and what a means of income our top trees have provided over the years.
Sounds like something I'd absolutely enjoy. We take a lot of things for granted. Things that we can very easily and quickly lose. There may yet come a time when man finds himself back at square one or somewhere close to it.This is a tenuous existence. At best.
Easily, the actual post is in fact the best theme about this similar problem. I remain in your results and can thirstily anticipate ones upcoming updates. Simply just expressing appreciate it won't just be adequate, with the tremendous lucidity within your creating. Let me at a time seize ones rss to remain abreast of almost any messages.
hello cool blog, I found your blog as I was doing some research on what to develop my world wide web log. I was at the moment enquiring which spam pluggin you make use of for comments because I ACTUALLY get lots on our site.
I cannot wait to enjoy a book more of this wonderful topic. So much of computer Ive never even looked into. You sure did put a good solid twist on something that Ive heard very much about. I dont believe Ive actually read anything that does this subject nearly as good justice as you just simply did.
I find the recording of old traditions to be so important. Ms. McCartney should write a book about Montserrat before the traditions, old stories, recipes, and memories of times "before" fade. She is nt only a poet, but a unique historian with an appreciation for what has gone before.
My Boston upbringing tells me, "Deaths happen in threes". Expressions of death include "Passed on", "Passed away", and the bad one, "He kicked the bucket". This seemingly originated from a man, waiting to be hung, standing on a bucket as the noose was slipped over his head. The bucket was then kicked out from under him. There are also expressions such as "met his maker", "saw the pearly gates", "went to the angels", etc.
You really brought this to life ... where and when was/is it? I googled "Groves Botanical Station" and was directed back to this poem. Is it on Montserrat? Is it an annual event? Is is something that was "before"?
Facebook indeed has outdone itself in many ways.... Now so many of us are being reunited w/ family, friends, colleagues from the past and present. Majority of the time its a 'good' feeling to see friend-requests from people you haven't been in touch with/seen in a long time... or request from current mates and family members who want to basically connect and have you close by (virtually). Everyone has their reasons at the end of the day.
Many FB users can be naive. When you have naive and/or inexperience users on such site(s) that's when it gets scary and vulnerability factor of the site is more evident. In my opinion, it is premature to think that reuniting moments will drag on for long; but its usually still a "nice" feeling to reconnect ....even if it lasts one short wall post. Then there are times when the "invite" isn't wanted, in such cases that's where the "Ignore" button" comes in handy. In either case....one more be careful always;
At the end of the day, the power/decision is in your hands. It is your business who you add or not add.... just be prepared for (any) consequences.
In direct response to Blog post. I believe that you can converse with anyone, but you must be careful in keeping such conversations to a limit, always showing some form of respect as you would to any stranger. At the end of the day, the person typing is YOU! So what you decide to say and what you type is all on you! If you feel you can keep a decent conversation / commentary going with someone who is unknown, do it, but its important that you remain respectful to the rest of the FBook community and the organization behind FBook. Dialogue can go many ways (positive, negative, neutral) it matters to the person reading it and their perception of what they read. If the people reading or contributing to such dialogue is mature enough to know the rights/wrongs of basic communication, it can be a fruitful experience.
If you post a comment (EXPECT) feedback at anytime and in any form. If you don't like it... DONT POST ANY COMMENTS. It's clear. `Once again you always have the option to 'Delete" if the feedback is based on your post.
I just ask that people be careful and think before they write and expect (anything).
Have a pleasant day!
"bound by kindred spirit" is the best line. Interesting observations. My finest impression of Junkanoo was the beat that could actually be felt from the ground...also the hypnotic frenzy of some of the dancers. Why did you choose this photograph?
Our Cuzin hit the spot today w/ posting Carleen Davis “Stealing love on the side” ...
Right away I went to iTunes and downloaded that song plus a handful more. Music for me is another soul within my soul. It’s always been a part of my life and indeed it helped shape me to be who I am today. Many countries, such as the US struggle w/ supporting Music/Arts w/in their curriculum. I am a stern supporter, for it is VERY important for the development of each child who is blessed to have such opportunity.
Anyway, when I click on Cuz's link....I almost started to shed a tear... not for the words of course but more for the memories of Montserrat and my family. I remember this song and many playing all the time in the house, at parties, BBQs ... in the car... etc... it’s goes back to FAMILY and MY CULTURE which appears so distant these days. I DO MISS that part of my LIFE and I DO CHERISH IT!! I AM PROUD OF MY CULTURE and we've all come from....and I respect YOU for keeping in w/in the development of my niece. It is so important....and she will respect you and cherish for life for sharing these stories/teachings.
You ask...." What about you, do you listen closely to the lyrics of songs? If so, which songs have impacted you most in your life?" .....
I do listen to the words NOW more than I did in the past. This is one reason I am retracting to music from the past.....for back then, much of it was meaningful and genuine; unlike the rubbish people are singing now. There's "Rich" history with music from the past...
Don't get me wrong, I do listen to current vibes....for it is 'fresh' and some songs are very nice and reflect within the world we live in. One person that I adore now, for each time I listen to her or see her on the tube.... my heart trembles, her voice so powerful, filled with happiness and sadness...it makes my heart-weak! Jennifer Hudson . . . . Her song/rendition of "Jesus Promised Me a Home Over There". This song will never be forgotten. This is the song I listened to when Grandmother (Nenen) was ill... I would listen to it over and over and over... it help me shed the tears I needed to shed. Another person I respect... although all my friends laugh, is Celine Dion ... WHY... I tell them because the my last trip to the Virgin Islands in 1995/6 I spent with my father ... it was the most memorable trip for me, for it was the first time (that I could remember) that I felt so HAPPY to be with my father. We shared so much on my visit... It was true Father and Son time. He likes Celine, and he would play her CD in the on rides on the hills, taking me on car drives around.... liming.
Wrapping this up... MUSIC is important. MUSIC is key to our existence. MUSIC is a form of medicine. MUSIC is a gift that God has given us to help us progress in life. How we use it...is our business, but if used well... the values of music can provide positive fulfillment.
As a young girl, I sent a condolence letter to the then Princess Elizabeth upon the death of her father, King George V (?), and received a reply from one of her "Ladies in Waiting". I still treasure that letter. As the mother of young girls, I allowed them to stay home from school and watch the marriage of Prince Charles and Diana. I agree with you that we should preserve tradition and culture/ Hope Daly watches it all on Friday.
Why is it that we have these incredibly special relationships with the alternate generation. Perhaps because there is not so much need for responsibility ....only a need for unconditional love.
Thank you for the reminder !
Hey! I loved your post; it's better than 90% of the other blog posts I read (and I mean it)! I didn't see a contact form so I hope you don't mind me posting here. My hubby insisted that I offer you some advice. Both of us have been into blogging since 2007, so it's safe to say we're a bit talented and skillful. Both of us live extremely comfortably just by posting on our blogs. I wanted to let you know there's a couple changes you can make to your blog that would increase revenue by AT LEAST triple whatever you're making right now! There's this site called http://alturl.com/iyp53 - it tripled (almost even quadrupled!) the revenue for all my blogs. The tool will actually send targeted traffic to YOUR blog. I had Google AdSense on my blog and I went from making $2-5 a day to $100-200 a day within one week! Cool, huh? Yesterday I even made a whopping $331 when I setup two more blogs and used the software on them! I just learned about it a few weeks ago and I never plan on running a blog without it again. :) Take care and good luck!
This post definitely makes me more curious about the early Irish settlers who came to the island after fleeing religious persecution. Also about our ancestors -- the African slaves that were brought over to work the land. So must do more reading on this subject.
No doubt he has had a rough few years. The downturn in the economy hasn't helped. But glad to see that he has been able to rise above it all and keep moving forward. So yes, happy birthday Mr President.
"There are no coincidences". Each day is full of these messages to which, most of the time, we turn a blind eye. What comes to my mind, in having said that is, "Before the cock crows, you will have denied me three times." Fr. Archer's sermon was so peacefully emphatic about Christ's being love, I have thought about it all week. " Each day should be a milestone", what a message with which to start the day.
Your recurring noticing of elephants is such a poignant example of why, throughout history, there have been symbols in religion. It's all so tied up with faith and superstition, isn't it? One could even understand why idol worship was so common it became a part, in a way, of the ten commandments (although perhaps that one refers to the worship of things like money.)
WOW ... your creative juices are flowing. What I find interesting is your accentuating the positive as opposed to the thoughts of autumn/death...especially as November can be so bleak. Well done!
long time i have not heard about jumbie table talk... i do set it if am at home although some of the foods i dont get here. Even my kids know a little about it.

So yes, happy birthday Mr President.

..noone should ever be civilized and mute. Being civilized should teach us the discipline to express ourselves in "acceptable" manners.

Take a look at Georgia O'Keefe's paintings. Wen one of my grandchildren was born, my daughter had an O'Keefe print to focus upon, inward and inward !

WOW ... your creative juices are flowing. What I find interesting is your accentuating the positive as opposed to the thoughts of autumn/death...especially as November can be so bleak. Well done!
